Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) unveiled new generation of the Innova MPV christened as Innova Crysta at the Auto Expo 2016. The new model comes with thorough changes on exterior, interior and powertains. The manufacturer confirmed to the International Business Times, India, that the MPV will be launched between May and June.
Ahead of the launch, selected dealers have started accepting bookings for the SUV for a down payment of Rs 40,000, reports Cardekho. Since the bookings are from the dealer-level, there is no official statement regarding the same from TKM.
Toyota is planning to launch the Innova Crysta with 98 percent localisation that will help for minimal raise in price. The new MPV is expected to be available with new top-of-the-line Q variant followed by the V and G trims in line with the Indonesia-spec model. In the latest avatar, the Innova features LED projector headlamp. The front fascia gets a big hexagonal grille with two thick chrome slats on the top that blend into the headlamps. The bumper sports fog lamps and turn indicators are in a single cluster with chrome housing. The MPV also come with three new colours and 17-inch alloy wheels.
On interior, the Innova Crysta will boast of automatic climate control with rear auto cooler, 7-inch audio with navigation, cruise control, electrically adjustable driver seat. On safety front, the MPV will feature ABS with Electronic brake distribution and brake assist as standard across the trim. Airbags will also be standard fitment.
The Innova Crysta will come with GD 2.4-litre diesel engine, replacing the old KD 2.5-litre engine. The 2,393cc engine develops 147bhp and 359Nm of torque mated to a manual gearbox. The diesel engine, which will also be available in six-speed automatic transmission, will have a slightly lesser torque of 342.2Nm, while power remains the same. The in-line four-cylinder 2,000cc VVT-i petrol engine will develop 137bhp and 183Nm of torque, and will be available with manual and automatic transmissions.
