It looks like the much-awaited new Innova Crysta from the house of Toyota is inching closer to its launch in the country. If emerging reports are anything to go by, the new Innova Crsyta MPV will make its entry by May this year.
The Innova Crysta, the new avatar of Toyota's highly-acclaimed Innova MPV, made its India debut at the Auto Expo 2016. A report on MotorOctane indicates the Innova Crysta is likely to be launched in India by May 2016. It was earlier reported the bookings for the new avatar of the Innova would open by March this year.
For the uninitiated, the powertrain of the new Innova Crysta includes GD 2.4-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol engines. While the 2,393cc engine develops 147bhp and 359Nm of torque mated to a manual gearbox, the in-line four-cylinder 2,000cc VVT-i petrol engine churns out 137bhp and 183Nm of torque. The petrol mill will be available with manual and automatic transmissions.
Expected to be offered in three variants in India — the new top-of-the-line Q variant and V and G trims — the Innova Crysta features LED projector headlamps and 17-inch alloy wheels. From a visual standpoint, the front fascia gets a big hexagonal grille with two thick chrome slats on the top that blend into the headlamps and the bumper gets fog lamps and turn indicators.
As for features, the Innova Crysta accommodates automatic climate control with rear auto cooler, 7-inch audio with navigation, cruise control, electrically adjustable driver seat. On safety front, the MPV features ABS with Electronic brake distribution and brake assist as standard across the trims. In India, the Innova Crysta is expected to boast a price tag around Rs 15 lakh.
