Toyota has released a new video of its 2016 Fortuner SUV, showing off the off-road capabilities of the SUV.
Toyota is expected to drive in the new Fortuner in India next year. The rumours floating on the web indicate that Indians could get the first glimpse of the new Fortuner as early as February, 2016 at the Auto Expo.
Already being sold in a few global markets, the 2016 Toyota Fortuner is built on a new ladder-frame platform and measures 4,795 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, 1,835 mm in height and 2,750 mm in wheelbase. In the new SUV, while the height of the SUV has been reduced by 15mm, the overall length has been increased by 90mm. The width of the new Fortuner SUV has also been raised by 15mm.
To be powered by 2.8-litre and 2.4-litre diesel motors, which can churn out 174.3 bhp and 148bhp of power respectively, the new Fortuner comes coupled either with a 6-Speed automatic transmission or a 6-Speed manual gearbox. The SUV boasts of a new design and has a fuel tank capacity of 80 litres.
When launched in India, the new Toyota Fortuner will rival Chevrolet's Trailblazer, the upcoming 2016 Ford Endeavour and the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
