If the emerging reports are anything to go by, Hyundai's small car Eon will soon get a facelifted model in India. The facelifted avatar of Eon is also likely to be offered with automatic transmission.
A report of GaadiWaadi reveals that Hyundai is gearing up to give a major makeover to its entry-level small car Eon in India and the facelifted model can be expected to see the light of the day in the third quarter of 2016.
The Eon, the entry-level hatchback of the South Korean auto major in the burgeoning segment, has been long-rumoured to get a new facelifted model. Although the Eon facelift was caught on camera numerous times while undergoing testing in the country and outside, the auto maker has not yet revealed any plan.
Now, as the competition in the small car segment is heating up with the arrival of new models like Kwid, reports indicate that Hyundai is ready to roll out the facelifted avatar of Eon to stay in the competition. The Eon facelift is expected to undergo extensive changes both inside and outside. The buzz online is that the facelifted Eon will likely exhibit changes mainly in the rear and front profiles. Ensuring compliance with the safety standards, Hyundai is also likely to offer airbag as standard in the new model.
As for engine, the new Eon is likely to carry over the same engines of the exiting model. In India, Hyundai Eon is sold in two engine options -- 800 cc petrol and 1.0 litre three-cylinder one. While the small engine (800cc) is tuned to generate 55bhp of power and 74.5 Nm of torque, the latter churns out power of 68bhp and peak torque of 98Nm. Hyundai is likely to offer four-speed automatic transmission in the 1.0 litre variant.
