Honda Cars India has officially announced the launch of the 2016 Amaze facelift on March 3, 2016. The Japanese company has started dispatching new models to its dealerships and delivery will commence soon after the launch.
The leaked pictures by Gaadiwaadi.com last week shed some light on the new Amaze. Being a mid-life facelift, the changes will be purely cosmetic on the exterior and will feature a design tweak in line with its elder sibling, the City. The new model will come with a redesigned front grille with thick chrome line. The headlamps have gotten smoke treatment and the front bumper has been tweaked to house these changes. At the rear, the facelift gets newly designed tail-lamps.
It seems Honda Cars India responded to customer criticism on the dashboard, which seemed outdated right from the launch in 2013. The new Amaze comes with an all new dashboard derived from the BR-V SUV, yet-to-be-launched in India. In the latest avatar, the round AC vent has made way for a rectangular one. The centre of dash will get automatic climate control and 2-DIN music system. The top-spec variants will get a touchscreen entertainment system.
Under the hood, the Amaze is expected to pack the same i-VTEC petrol and i-DTEC diesel engines. The four-cylinder 1,198cc petrol develops 86.7bhp at 6,000rpm and 109Nm of torque at 4,500rpm available with five-speed manual and automatic transmission options. The four-cylinder 1,498cc diesel engine develops 99bhp at 3,600rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,750rpm mated to five-speed manual transmission.
