After launching the Figo Aspire sedan and Figo getting a facelift, the next product launch of Ford India is the facelifted Endeavour SUV. The new SUV is already listed on the company website with the tag "Future SUV" and the launch is expected in early 2016.
Apparently, the new SUVs have started to reach dealerships ahead of the launch. Pictures on IndianAutosBlog have caught the car undisguised at a Ford service centre.
The full-sized seven-seater Endeavour SUV is currently in its third generation, and globally known as Everest. In its third generation, the Endeavour deviates from the typical boxy design of the previous generations and has a more rounded design. The new design is more athletic and gives the SUV a fresh face. The spare wheel at the rear has made its way inside the vehicle, helping it to shorten the length of the vehicle.
The interior is inspired by Ford's F-150 pick-up truck and comes in leather upholstery. The dashboard has been designed in an uncluttered manner in the absence of minimum switches. It has a new steering wheel that incorporates audio controls.
The Ford India website only talks about the 3.2-litre TDCi diesel engine without any detail on the currently available 2.2-litre diesel engine. The former is expected churn out 197bhp of power and will be mated to six-speed automatic transmission. The SUV has been developed on a new ladder-on-frame chassis and will also feature new independent coil-spring at the rear wheels.
When launched, the SUV will rival against the like likes of Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. The new Endeavour is also expected to be priced in the range of Rs 22-25 lakh, and bookings are likely to open sometime next month, reports IndianAutosBlog.
