It looks like the launch of the facelift avatar of Ford's popular SUV EcoSport has almost been confirmed with the emerging reports on the web suggesting that the 2016 EcoSport will hit the Indian roads by the end of this year.
A report of Indian Autos Blog, citing Ford India's president and managing director, Nigel Harris claims that the launch of 2016 EcoSport could happen as early as this year with possible launch around December.
The EcoSport facelift, which made an appearance at the Geneva Motor Show 2015, has done away with the rear-mounted spare wheel. However, Ford is likely to continue to offer the tail-mounted wheels in India considering the Indians' fondness for the rugged look.
Under the hood, EcoSport facelift is likely to be the same as the current model, but with minor tweaks for improved suspension. Currently, the 1.5L petrol engine gives 112PS power and 140Nm torque and the revolutionary EcoBoost engine churns out a power of 125PS and 170Nm torque, with a mileage of 18.9kmpl.
The latest report also adds that the engine line-up of new EcoSport could also include 1.5-liter TDCi diesel engine, which is currently being offered in Ford's new Figo hatchback and Figo Aspire models.
EcoSport facelift is expected to include features like colour four-inch display, partial leather seats standard for Titanium models and a reverse parking camera.
