Ford has started accepting the bookings for its new updated EcoSport SUV in Europe, with the deliveries of the model set to commence soon.
The new EcoSport facelift, which made its maiden appearance at 2015 Geneva Motor Show as Ford EcoSport S, hosts exterior and interior changes. In its new avatar, the most noticeable change is the absence of the rear-mounted spare wheel.
Speaking of other changes, inside the cabin, the SUV gets a colour four-inch display, partial leather seats standard for Titanium models, winter packs that includes heated windscreen, mirrors and seats and rear seat ducting.
The noise, vibration and harness level have also been reduced with ticker sound deadening materials used in the door and dashboard. The rear twist beam as well as the spring and damper rates have been retuned and the ride height has also been reduced by 10mm.
Under the hood, the 1.5-litre diesel engine is retuned to produce 95Ps of power now, an increase of 5PS from the previous one and other 1.0-litre EcoBoost and 1.5-litre Ti-VCT petrol engines continue to generate the same power.
The new SUV will also be exported to Europe from the company's Indian plant in Chennai. Although there have been rumours about the same EcoSport model coming to the India market, nothing has been confirmed as yet.
