Porsche is expanding its luxury SUV segment with an all-new 2015 Cayenne for the Indian market. The car maker launched four new variants of the Cayenne series - the Cayenne Diesel, Cayenne S Diesel, Cayenne Turbo and Cayenne S to match consumer requirements in the country.
The 2015 Cayenne packs more power under the hood without affecting the car's fuel efficiency. Out of the four versions, customers can choose from the two diesel variants, top of the line Turbo version or the all-new petrol engine.
Under The Hood
Cayenne Turbo: The Cayenne Turbo is the high-end model with a powerful 4.8-litre bi-turbo V8 engine accelerating from 0-100kmph in just 4.5 seconds. It produces 520bhp with a top speed of 279kmph, which is the highest among its other models.
Cayenne S: This is the new petrol variant in the series packed with 3.6-litre V6 bi-turbo engine. It has a fuel consumption rate of 9.5-9.8 liters for 100 km. The SUV pushes 420 horses down the pipes at 6,000rpm and runs zero to 100km in just 5.5seconds. It comes with a standard eight-speed transmission and has a top speed of 259kmph.
Cayenne Diesel:This is the base model and sports a 3.0-litre, V6 engine with 245bhp and 550Nm of torque. It can accelerate zero to 100km in 7.6 seconds and consumes 7.7l per 100 km. The top speed achieved on this mode is 218kmph.
Cayenne S Diesel:This is a slightly upgraded model than the Diesel variant with a 4.2-litre V8 engine that produces 385bhp. It can run from zero to 100km in mere 5.4seconds with 252kmph top speed and still consume 8 liters per 100 km.
Customers can add the Sport Chrono package for extra performance.
Outlook
Besides the technical specifications, the all-new Cayenne comes with a face-lift. It features a larger grille with a new bumper design with sharper lines. The blades in the air ducts have been increased to give the engine better cooling and the bonnet features sharper lines to compliment the new grille.
The headlights in the new Cayenne are bi-xenon with four-point LED Daytime running lamps, which is standard in the Diesel, S and S- E-Hybrid. The high-end Turbo model, however, is treated with LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS).
"The new Porsche Cayenne embodies the ultimate Porsche traits, class-leading performance and outstanding driveability," Anil Reddi, Director of Porsche India, said, Zigwheels reported. "No matter the road conditions, the new Cayenne delivers a unique automotive experience and we expect our customers to share in the excitement around this thrilling evolution."
Inside the car, the latest Cayenne borrows the multifunctional sport steering wheel from the 918 Spyder, which includes shift paddles as standard. For extra comfort, Porsche has added optional seat ventilation in the rear for the first time. Standard features like the air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management, Porsche Entry and Drive, four-zone auto climate control and sunroof are all included.
