Korean auto maker's next generation premium hatchback i20 has made its way onto the cyber space once again through a set of spy pics, indicating that the Korean maker is gearing up for an aggressive launch.
Scheduled to pull its wraps at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October, the 2015 Hyundai i20 has been testing on Indian roads for quite some time now. The latest set of spy images are by Motoroids' reader Rishi Tripathi, who snapped the test mule of the car in Delhi. The car we see in the new pics has a longer wheelbase and vertical taillights.
As we already know, India bound version of 2015 i20 is speculated to come with 1.4-liter diesel and 1.2-liter Kappa2 engine mated to either a five-speed or a six-speed manual transmission. While the petrol engine is expected to churn out 83 bhp of power and 113 Nm of peak torque, the diesel engine is to give 89 bhp of power and 219 Nm of torque.
In India, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Fiat Punto, Tata Bolt, Toyota Etios Liva and Ford Figo will be the main rivals of Hyundai next generation i20.
It is Codenamed "IB" and is expected to host reworked headlight, tail light and bumper. Other speculated features include alloy wheels, climate control, keyless entry, steering mounted audio controls, reverse camera, parking sensors and automatic day/night interior mirror.
In the international market, the car is likely to draw its power from 1.1 liter 3 pot diesel engine, 1.2 liter 4 pot gasoline engine, 1.0 and 1.4 liter diesel motors.
Hyundai i20, which is believed to be one of the 22 cars that the company plans to launch under the 'Product Momentum 2017′ badge in the next three years, is also likely to come loaded with safety features like ABS and airbags. Previous reports have said that the car will make its India debut by the end of this year. Since it is ready for its public debut at the Paris Motor Show which is scheduled to begin in October, we expect its India launch by September.
Besides i20, the Korean auto maker is also expected to launch the globally acclaimed i30 premium hatchback in India during the festive season this year. Globally, the Hyundai i30 comes in three versions - three-door, five-door and an Estate and is offered with four engine options - 1.6-litre MPi, 1.6-litre GDi, 1.8-litre MPi and a 1.6-litre VGT.
