We have heard plenty about Ford's upcoming Figo sedan and hatchback - such as their names, where it will be built and the launch. And now, we have the spy shots of the hatchback as well as the sedan that were captured while undergoing testing in Rajasthan recently.
Expected to be manufactured at Ford's Sanand plant in Gujarat, Ford Figo hatchback and sedan are slated for a mid-2015 launch. Snapped by the folks at CarDekho, Ford's upcoming car models were seen with minimal camouflage, giving the country's auto lovers a clear hint of what to expect from these two models.
Known as Ford Ka and Ka+ in Brazil, Ford's next offerings may include 1.2 litre petrol motor and 1.5 litre TDCi diesel engine, which can generate a power of 89bhp and a peak torque of 204Nm. There have also been rumours that a 1.1 litre diesel motor could also feature in the Ford hatchback.
In Brazil, Ford Ka gets power from naturally-aspirated 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine, which can churn out a power of 85bhp and peak torque of 10.7kgm. The engine comes mated to five-speed manual gearbox and would be capable of running on gasoline and ethanol.
While the India-bound model of Figo hatchback is likely to replace the current Figo in the domestic market, the sedan is expected to show the door to Ford Classic. Expected to get a starting price tag of ₹4 lakh, the new hatchback will compete with Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and Tata Bolt; and the sedan will take on the likes of Tata Zest, Maruti Dzire, Honda Amaze, and Hyundai Xcent.
