BMW India has launched the updated version of its M6 Gran coupe priced at Rs 1.71 crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
The German car maker also launched the BMW M Studio showroom in Mumbai, which is the first showroom in India dedicated exclusively for the retailing of BMW M division performance cars.
Under the hood, there are no changes in the new M6 Gran Coupe. The vehicle is powered by the 4.4-litre V8 twin-turbo engine that develops 552bhp at 6000-7000rpm and 680Nm of torque in the range of 1500-5750rpm mated to seven-speed M double-clutch transmission. The car can go from 0-100kmph in just 4.2 seconds with a top whack of 250kmph. The top speed can be increased with the optional M Drivers package.
Even a die-hard BMW fan would find it difficult to spot the changes in the new M6 Grand Coupe. The car gets new adaptive LED headlamps and tail lamps and a mildly tweaked kidney grille up front. The interior remains unchanged.
The M6 Gran Coupe has been launched at the first BMW M Studio in the country and the concept is similar to the Mercedes-Benz AMG Performance Centre, which is dedicated to the sales of the brand's high performance cars. The BMW M Studio will sell only M Division cars and M-package option that is available in India. The M Studio in Mumbai is taken care of by Infinity cars and the company will open six new M Studios by the end of 2016.
Currently, BMW sells M3 sedan, M4 Coupe, M5 sedan and the M6 Gran Coupe from its M range of high performance cars in India. The company plans to launch all new X5M and X6M models soon.
