Mahindra's highly anticipated Scorpio facelift's bookings will begin in the country on Monday (15 September), according to a new report.
Scorpio Facelift, the new avatar of iconic SUV Scorpio has been in the news for quite some time. The vehicle, which has been linked to different launch dates in the country, will now reportedly take to the roads this September. Though the initial estimates suggested a 23 September launch, a fresh rumour holds that Mahindra will break the cover on 25 September.
A new report of Indian autos Blog also claims that the dealerships of Mahindra across the company will commence the bookings for new Scorpio facelift from 15 September. Apparently, Mahindra, which is looking to tap new volumes in the country, has reserved first three days of bookings (15-18 September) for the existing Scorpio customers and the actual bookings will start from 18 September.
The SUV, which is coming to grip the Indian auto aficionados' attention, will rival Tata Safari Storme, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano in the subcontinent market. The SUV is expected to come fitted with a slew of new features and is likely to get new body-on-frame chassis.
As far as the engine is concerned, there will not be any changes under the hood and Scorpio Facelift will continue to get power from the same 2.2 litre four-cylinder turbo-charged mHawk diesel engine, which powers the current Scorpio model. The engine currently has the capacity to churn out 120 bhp power and 290 Nm torque and rumours suggest that the transmission of the new Scorpio might come from upgraded 5-speed manual gearbox.
From the visual stand point, the 2014 Scorpio facelift is expected to include reworked front fascia with new stylish headlights and grille along with the new LED taillights. The vehicle is likely to get rear and side profile updates too along with a sporty touch to the interior. The features expected inside the cabin include automatic climate control, rectangular design central consoles AC vents, steering-mounted controls for audio and cruise control. Besides this, now the power windows button of the new Scorpio facelift will be placed to the side door panel.
Although the official price details of the upcoming vehicle are yet to come, rumours suggest that the new model will fall in the price range of ₹8 - ₹13 lakh.
