Korean car maker Hyundai has hit the jackpot once again with its new Elite i20. A latest report states that the Elite i20 has received more than 40,000 bookings in the country within two months.
Hyundai new i20 which made its India debut on 11 August has been earning tremendous response from the auto enthusiasts for its style and design.
Now The Times of India report claims that the car has already garnered 40,000 bookings in India, posing serious challenge to its rivals.
The company sold 6,627 units of Elite i20 for the month of August and 8,903 units in September, which is much higher than the monthly sales figure of old i20.
Offered in both petrol and diesel engine options in India, Elite i20 comes in five trims - Era, Magna, Sportz, Sportz (O) and Asta.
Under the hood, the car packs 1.2 litre petrol engine and 1.4 litre CRDi diesel motor. While the petrol engine of Elite i20 can churn out 83ps of power and peak torque of 114nm, the diesel motor is tuned to generate 90ps of power and peak torque of 220nm.
The feature rich Elite i20 packs multi-steering mounted audio controls, Bluetooth integrated 2 Din audio with USB and Aux-in and 1GB internal storage, rear AC vents, push start-stop button and automatic temperature control. There are also safety features like Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), four-passenger airbags and reverse-parking camera.
The next machine that is coming up from Hyundai factory is Elite i20 Cross - a crossover based on the Elite i20 hatch. The company has already begun testing the crossover on Indian roads and the car is likely to reach our showrooms in early next year. Engine wise, the new Elite i20 Cross is expected to pack the same engine of its hatchback Elite i20 and the car will be pegged against Toyota Etios Cross, Fiat Avventura and Volkswagen Polo Cross in India.
