The Bombay High Court on Monday announced that it would begin the hearing of Bollywood actor Salman Khan's plea against the five-year jail sentence in the 2002 hit-and-run case on 30 July.
Salman's lawyer Amit Desai had appealed to the court to adjourn the hearing till 3 August; however, Justice A R Joshi did not consider the plea and decided to hear the appeal 30 July onwards, Press Trust of India reported.
In other development, mother of a deceased Mumbai police constable filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking transfer of the case to Delhi. However, Supreme Court dismissed her petition.
In May, Additional Sessions Judge D.W. Deshpande convicted Salman in the 2002 hit-and-run case and sentenced him to five-year jail term.
