Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor's film "2 States" has witnessed very good occupancy at the domestic as well as overseas box offices.
The film, which is riding high on positive reviews from critics, is directed by Abhishek Varman and is based on Chetan Bhagat's novel "2 States".
Due to Good Friday holiday across the country, the morning shows recorded decent occupancy compared to last few releases. The morning shows occupancy across the country was 45 to 50 percent.
Circuits including Mumbai, East Punjab, UP, Rajasthan, Delhi and Kolkata opened well on Friday. The film is expected to pick up pace during the course of the day.
However, the evening and night show might get affected due to the IPL 7 matches.
The pre-release buzz of the film was in the favour of the film as the music and trailer became instant hits. Also, the lead pair Bhatt and Kapoor promoted the film quite well which helped it to garner public attention.
The film is released in over 2000 screens in India and around 350 screens in 30 countries internationally, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
The preview shows of the film were screened at overseas box office on Thursday which received strong response from audience.
From the UK market it raked in ₹9.51 lakh, Australia ₹7.76 lakh and New Zealand ₹4.81 lakh.

Apart from Bhatt and Kapoor, the film also features Ronit Roy, Amrita Singh, Shiv Kumar Subramaniam and Revathy in important roles.
