Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor starrer "2 States" has shattered the second weekend record of "Jai Ho" by earning ₹15.53 crore.
"Jai Ho," the highest grosser film of 2014, had the highest second weekend total. But now "2 States" has beaten that target by big margin.
Salman Khan starrer "Jai Ho" raked in ₹13.80 crore figures provided by Eros, and "2 States" minted ₹15.53 crore in second weekend.
Despite new release, "2 States" earned decent amount in second weekend at the domestic box office. The 10 days total of the film now stands at ₹76 crore.
"#2States [Week 2] Fri 3.51 cr, Sat 5.55 cr, Sun 6.47. Grand total: ₹ 76.30 cr nett. India biz. SUPER HIT," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The film has registered itself in the super hit film's list and is now eyeing to break "Gunday" lifetime total. With second Monday's earning, the film will surpass Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor starrer "Gunday" lifetime total of ₹78.60 crore.
It will also become the second highest grosser film of the year, pushing "Gunday" at third spot.
But it remains to be seen whether the film will break "Jai Ho" total and enter itself into ₹100 crore club.
Meanwhile, the new releases "Revolver Rani" and "Kaanchi" showed some growth on Sunday. Kangana Ranaut's "Revolver Rani" had fared well among the new releases and it also showed decent growth.
The comedy film earned around ₹6 crore in its opening weekend.
Subhash Ghai's directorial film "Kaanchi" has turned out to be a disaster as it failed to create magic like his previous films.
