If there is any movie which is capable of surpassing SS Rajamouli's Baahubali - The Conclusion's box office record (Hindi), you can think of no other movie than Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar's much-hyped sci-fi thriller 2.0 (Robot 2) which is all set to release in theatres on November 29.
There's no doubt that 2.0 is India's most expensive films that has been made with a budget of nearly Rs 500 crore unlike Baahubali 2 (Rs 250 crore approximately). According to Bollywood Hungama, 2.0 has managed to lock around 6600 to 6800 screens in India. In comparison, Baahubali 2 had managed to acquire approximately 6500 screens across the country.
With massive screen counts, 2.0 has been allotted around 32,000 to 33,000 shows across India which will further boost the revenue generated from the ticket window alone. The morning shows are starting from as early as 4 am in several parts of the country. Baahubali 2 was allotted with approximately 31,000 shows across theatres in India.
According to the reports, Rajinkanth's 2.0 has already recovered Rs 370 via Satellite Rights (Rs. 120 crore All Versions), Digital Rights (Rs. 60 crore All Versions), North Belt Rights (Rs. 80 crore), Andhra Pradesh/Telangana Rights (Rs. 70 crore), Karnataka Rights (Rs. 25 crore) and Kerala Rights (Rs. 15 crore).
Tickets have been selling like hot cakes in many parts of the country in advance booking which will further add to the movie's total box office collections. However, it will still be very difficult for 2.0 to set a new benchmark at the box office considering Baahubali 2's massive record.
SS Rajamouli's directorial had collected a whopping Rs 41 crore (Hindi version) on the opening day and had collected Rs 40.50 crore and Rs 46.50 crore on its first Saturday and Sunday taking the total opening weekend collection to Rs 128 crore at the box office. The movie went on to become the first movie to cross Rs 400 crore and Rs 500 crore mark in the Hindi circuit with its outstanding run.
Considering the hype around 2.0, it is being said that Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar's film may earn somewhere around Rs 35 crore on its opening day according to early estimates. Though it is too early to predict the pan-India total of day 1 collection, it will be interesting to see if 2.0 will be able surpass Baahubali 2 opening day box office record (Hindi version).
Let's wait and witness the grandeur.
