Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 has finally crossed $4 million at the US box office in six days, but its total collection is still lower than how much Baahubali 2 made on its opening day.
Having opened to an average critical response, 2.0 collected $3,753,582 at the US box office in its (4 days) first weekend. PaniPuri tweeted, "#2Point0 #USA Gross Prem+Day1-$982,929(287 Locs) Day2-$727,038 (311 Locs) Day3-$1,299,854(315 Locs) Day4-$743,846(310 Locs) Total Gross-$3,753,582[₹26.4 Cr].. 2nd Highest Tamil Grosser.. #Rajinikanth #Rajini #AkshayKumar #AmyJackson #2PointOblockbuster"
The Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer witnessed a steep decline in collections on Monday, due to it being a working day for most filmgoers. 2.0 grossed $130,116 at the US box office on Monday, taking its six-day total collection to $3,887,663. Idlebrain Jeevi tweeted, "#2Point0 collects $130,116 from 287 locations on Monday in the USA. Total gross is $3,887,663. It will cross $4 Million on Tuesday! "
As per usual trends, any Indian film will see a drop in collections on the Monday following its release in the weekend, but it will show an increase in numbers on Tuesdays, because of running offers on tickets. But Tuesday was also a "normal" day for 2.0. PaniPuri tweeted, "#2point0- Tuesday doesn't really make any difference for 2point0 as it is not applicable on 3D and most of the collections (80%) of 2point0 collections are in 3D. So, Tuesday is just any other day."
The Shankar-directed sci-fi action thriller needed $112,337 to cross the $4 million mark at the US box office and the film has raked in $158,019 there so far. PaniPuri tweeted, "PaniPuri tweeted, "#2Point0 #USA Tuesday (12/4/18) Gross $158,019 From 289 Locs & Total Gross-$4,047,525[₹28.55 Cr].. #Rajinikanth #Rajini #AmyJackson #AkshayKumar #Thalaivar #4MilUSD2Point0 (sic)"
However, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion collected over $4.5 million at the US box office in its premiers and on the first day itself. Considering hype and promotion, 2.0 was expected to shatter this record, but the movie has failed to surpass this mark in the US even after completing a six-day run in cinema halls.
