Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth starrer 2.0 has brought some respite to the Bollywood industry with its victory run at the box office. The Hindi version of Shankar's directorial sci-fi action thriller has held a strong grip in the Hindi belt and has been already Rs 100 crore mark at the ticket window.
The movie, which also stars Amy Jackson, Adil Hussain, Sudhanshu Pandey and others, has been somewhat living up to its hype and expectations unlike big Bollywood projects like Salman Khan's Race 3 and Aamir Khan's Thugs Of Hindostan.
After raking in moolah over its first weekend, 2.0 managed to earn in double figures on Monday (Rs 13.75 crore) and Tuesday (Rs 11.50 crore). On Wednesday too, Rajini-Akshay's film managed to keep the momentum going and continued to score good numbers at the box office.
2.0 Hindi version collected Rs 9.50 crore on day 7 making it Akshay Kumar's highest grosser till date.
"#2Point0 continues its winning streak... Maintains a super-strong hold on weekdays... Thu 20.25 cr, Fri 18 cr, Sat 25 cr, Sun 34 cr, Mon 13.75 cr, Tue 11.50 cr, Wed 9.50 cr. Total: ₹ 132 cr. India biz. Note: HINDI version," Taran Adarsh tweeted.
In the second week, the collection of 2.0 may slow down a bit because of new Bollywood release Kedarnath directed by Abhishek Kapoor which stars Sushant Singh Rajput and debutante Sara Ali Khan in the lead.
It remains to be seen if 2.0 will overpower Kedarnath and mint more money at the domestic box office or not.
