The first-look launch of 2.0 was a star-studded affair with a major surprise. Salman Khan stepped in to the venue to congratulate the lead cast — Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar — on kick-starting promotions.
Even though the idea was that Khan attended the launch for Amy Jackson (who is one of the cast members of 2.0 and is said to be dating the Bigg Boss 10 host), sources say his entry was scripted. Talking to the Indian Express, an insider said that gatecrashing events is something struggling actors do.
Khan's arrival was a strategic one. The launch was to begin by 5pm, but it was delayed by almost an hour on purpose so that the Tubelight actor could reach the venue before the Q & A session was kick-started.
Apparently, Kumar invited Khan to be part of the 2.0 first look launch. The actors go back a long way and share a healthy professional rapport with each other.
"Salman even posted a video to promote Akshay's Rustom. That speaks volumes about their friendship. When Akshay asked Salman if he could be present for the launch, the latter immediately agreed because he has deep respect for both Akshay and Rajinikanth. Salman agreed, but on the condition that he would walk in later so that he doesn't grab the spotlight," the source further elaborated.
In other news, Kumar pulls off the dark and evil avatar in 2.0 pretty convincingly and a little credit needs to be given to stylist Rocky S for designing one of most scary looks of recent times.
