Shankar's magnum opus 2.0 is declared the second biggest opener of all-time in the Indian cinema after SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2. The Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar-starrer opened big worldwide on Thursday, November 29 and garnered fairly positive reviews.
After minting Rs 94.4 crore on opening day at the worldwide box office, Shankar's creation has managed to retain the momentum as the business has not heavily dropped on day two. Although the number of shows have come down, the multilingual film managed to garner a good number of footfalls across the country.
In Tamil Nadu, 2.0 had collected Rs 18.2 crore on the first day and the two-day collection of the movie is estimated to be around Rs 27 crore. Interestingly, the business of its Telugu version is quite better as it has raked in Rs 29.5 crore.
In Karnataka, 2.0 grossed Rs 8 crore on the first day from three versions and added little over Rs 4 crore to take its two-day tally to Rs 12.03 crore. Coming to Kerala, the Lyca Productions-funded flick has collected Rs earned Rs 4.14 crore and the two-day collection is Rs 6.10 crore.
In North Indian circuit, the movie has earned Rs 48 crore to take the domestic total to Rs 122.63 crore.
From the overseas centres, the estimated gross collection is Rs 33 crore. The worldwide gross collection is Rs 155.63.
According to the trade experts, the performance of 2.0 at the box office can be considered good as the film was released on a working day. However, one section of trade trackers feels that the collection is way lesser than expected for a Rajinikanth film.
Given the huge budget, 2.0 should do well to become a profitable venture.
