Shankar's 2.0 will complete its first week on a positive note at the Tamil Nadu box office. Although the Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar-starrer has a long way to go to become a profitable venture, the distributors still hope that the collections would remain stable for the next one week.
Released in over 600 screens in Tamil Nadu, 2.0 got a slow start at the box office as it raked in about Rs 18.2 crore on the first day. It enjoyed good footfalls for the next three days to end its first weekend at around Rs 55 crore in the state.
In the next three days, the movie has added around Rs 15 crore to take its 7-day collection to Rs 70 crore. The business of 2.0 has not witnessed a huge drop in the state.
In Chennai alone, 2.0 has raked in Rs 13.64 crore. The notable part of its success story is that it has collected over a crore on all the days. Find the day-wise Chennai break-up of collection here:
Days | Collection |
Day 1 | Rs 2.64 crore |
Day 2 | Rs 2.13 crore |
Day 3 | Rs 2.57 crore |
Day 4 | Rs 2.75 crore |
Day 5 | Rs 1.32 crore |
Day 6 | Rs 1.17 crore |
Day 7 | Rs 1.06 crore |
Total | Rs 13.64 crore |
Meanwhile, 2.0 has raked in over around Rs 60 crore in AP and Telangana, Rs 25+ crore in Karnataka and around Rs 13.5 crore in Kerala to take the South Indian gross collection to Rs 168.5 crore.
Coming to the North India box office, the Akshay Kumar's film, which has Amy Jackson in the female lead, has grossed around Rs 170 crore to take the domestic box office collection to Rs 338.5 crore.
This week, no big movies are releasing in Kollywood which will help the movie to do a good collection over the weekend. Whereas in Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi languages, a few notable films are hitting the screens. Hence, the business of the Rajinikanth-starrer might slow down in North India, Telugu-speaking states and Kerala.
