Rajinikanth's 2.0 has turned out to be the biggest Tamil hit movie of all-time at the US box office. The mega-budget movie has shattered the Kabali record to become the highest-grossing Kollywood movie in the North America.
The total gross collection of 2.0 has is over $5 at the US box office in 11 days (including premiere collection) in the US. It shattered the Kabali's lifetime record ($4,585,808) on Saturday.
The movie had got a decent start after the premieres in many centres were cancelled due to some issues. The mixed talk had sent fears among the makers about its fortunes in the North America where a slight negative talk usually have a bad consequence at the box office for the Indian movies.
Surprisingly, 2.0 started attracting the audience in spite of the mixed talks. It has to be noted that the Telugu and Hindi versions performed better than the Tamil version.
The Rajinikanth-starrer is now the third highest-grossing South Indian movie in the US after Baahubali 2 ($20,571,695) and Baahubali 1 ($6,999,312).
In the second weekend, 2.0 has done well to sustain its momentum and the $6 million still looks a possibility. It has to be seen whether the Shankar's creation can surpass the lifetime collection of Baahubali. Here is the day-wise collection of the Akshay Kumar's flick in the US:
