At least 19 people were injured in an explosion inside a local train in Kolkata on early Tuesday, according to TV reports. The incident took place at around 3.50 am on the Sealdah-Krishnanagar local train when it left Titagarh station.
According to reports, the blast took place in the fifth compartment of the train after two groups clashed and hurled bombs at each other. The bomb was a low-intensity one.
"Preliminary reports indicated that the blast was a low-intensity one and could have taken place accidentally while some explosive was being carried in a bag by some passengers," police sources told The Indian Express.
The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Top police officials, fire brigade and railway rescue teams have reached the spot.
