The festive season of Malayalam cinema is here. The Christmas and Ney Year season is now flooded with a large number of releases and young stars of Malayalam cinema are all set to fight it out. Stars like Jayasurya, Kunchacko Boban and Indrajith have release of their films "Aamayum Muyalum" and "Cousins' on 10 December. The trailers, teasers and the songs of the film assures that it is going to be a neck to neck competition from both the films.

Genre
Both "Aamayum Muyalum" and "Cousins" is touted as comedy films. The makers of the film have assured that the film will entertain the audience with its comic elements, which is well-supported by a strong set of artistes and technicians.
Directors
"Aamayum Muyalum" is directed by Priyadarshan and "Cousins" is directed by Vyshakh. Both the directors have proved their calibre as film-makers and neither of them require an introduction. Priyadarshan is one of those directors, who pioneered the genre of slap-stick comedy in Malayalam where as Vyshakh is one of those directors who began the trend of so-called "mass" films in Malayalam.
Their style of making is also reflected in the making of the films. Priyadarshan stuck to his usal pattern of shooting, which is made with a normal budget for a Malayalam movie. But "Cousins" is more of a grandeur, which is reportedly made with a huge budget of ₹10 crore. The film also has a song, which is made with a budget of ₹1 crore, the highest ever for a Malayalam film song.
Story and Script
The story and scripting of "Aamayum Muyalum" is written by the director himself. The story of this film revolves around people who live on either bank of a river and the conflict between them. The film is touted as a folktale with a comic twist, along the lines of Priyadarshan's hit film, "Thenmavin Kombathu", starring Mohanlal and Shobhana.
Story of "Cousins" revolves around life of four cousins, Sam, Joji, Pauly and Tony. The story begins when Sam has a memory lapse of six years. The film revolves around the other cousins' efforts to find out the reason of his memory loss. "Cousins" script is penned by Sethu , who has scripted films like "Mallu Singh", "I Love Me" and "Salaam Kashmier".
Star Cast
The star cast of the film is yet another noticeable aspect of both the films. "Aamayum Muyalum" has a huge star cast, known for their comic timing. Jayasurya, Pia Bajpai, Innocent, Nedumudi Venu, Harishree Ashokan, Manianpilla Raju, Mamookoya, KPAC Lalitha, Edavela Babu, Nandu, Ambika and Anoop Menon play key roles in the film.
Meanwhile, "Cousins" have a wide range of artistes including Kunchacko Boban, Indrajith Suraj Venjaramoodu , Joju George, Vedhika, Nisha Agarwal, Miya, Pradeep Rawat, Kalabhavan Shajon, P Balachandran, Santhosh, Sreedevi Unni and Shiju.
