In yet another incident of sexual assault on a minor, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and then gang-raped by two men in Gautam Buddh Nagar of Uttar Pradesh. The incident reportedly took place on August 24.
The victim has also said that the accused men had even thrashed her.
According to the police, a resident of Dastampur village, which comes under the jurisdiction of Jewar police station, the crime took place when she was returning home, reported PTI.
"She had gone for sewing classes near her home and the two accused came on a motorcycle and kidnapped her. They also forced her to have alcohol and beat her up when she resisted," the news agency quoted SS Bhati, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Jewar police station as saying.
"The duo raped her and the next morning dumped her outside her house in Dastampur village," Bhati added while quoting the police complaint made by the teenager's father.
The police have registered a complaint under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the two perpetrators, who are yet to be identified.
The Circle Officer of Greater Noida 2nd, Piyush Kumar Singh has said that the duo has also been charged under relevant sections of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
Meanwhile, reports have said that the police were slow in registering the complaint. However, the SHO has rubbished these allegations and said the victim and her family had approached them on Wednesday (August 29), following which they registered an FIR.
Circle Officer Singh has assured that the cops are investigating the case and the perpetrators will be soon arrested.
