South Korean auto major Hyundai's latest offering Creta, which made its India debut on 21 July, has already raked up 15,000 pre-launch bookings in the country, positioning itself as a real challenger of the segment's long-standing dominant power Renault Duster.
Hyundai Creta, the latest entrant in the compact SUV segment has been priced in the range of Rs 8.59 lakh to Rs 13.60 lakh. Creta, which is pitched against Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport, is offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. Reports indicate that over 25% of bookings of Creta are for the petrol variant and there also seems to be an increasing demand for the automatic variant of the new SUV.
Under the hood, Creta gets 1.6-litre VTVT petrol engine, which can churn out 123PS and 151Nm of torque, 1.6 litre CRDI diesel engine that is tuned to pump out 128PS of power and 260Nm of torque and 1.4 litre CRDI diesel motor. The 1.6 litre CRDI diesel mill of Creta comes mated to automatic transmission, while 6-speed manual gearbox takes care of the transmission in other petrol and diesel engines.
Hyundai Creta 1.6 petrol engine promises a fuel efficiency of 15.29 kmpl, while 1.4 diesel and 1.6 diesel offer 21.38 kmpl and 19.67 kmpl mileage, respectively.
