Fifteen persons were killed and two others injured when the Mathura-Kasganj Express train hit a jeep carrying 17 passengers at Hathras in Uttar Pradesh Tuesday.
The accident happened at around 7 am Tuesday when Mathura-Kasganj Express rammed into a jeep carrying 17 passengers at an unmanned railway crossing near Madu Railway Station, killing 15 persons on the spot and seriously injuring the other two.
According to sources, the driver of the jeep tried to cross the railway track even as the train was approaching.
