The incident, which was caught on a CCTV camera, took place in Jinjiang city of Fujian province in south-east China on 28 August. The shocking video has since been doing the rounds on social media and has been shared widely.
The clip shows a woman and the toddler on one side of a road, when the van turns speedily without noticing the baby. However, the driver realises the mistake and stops immediately and rushes out of the vehicle to rescue the child.
He, with the help of bystanders, lifts the rear portion of the van to safely bring the baby from beneath the vehicle. The baby is thus saved from under the wheels.
