Vikram starrer "10 Endrathukulla" (10 Enradhukulla) might have got a good opening at the box office, but the Tamil movie has failed to beat the record of Vijay's "Puli".
"10 Endrathukulla" has done a business close to Rs 5 crore on the release day in Tamil Nadu. However, it could not surpass the business of Vijay starrer "Puli", which had grossed Rs 10.75 crore on the first day in the state.
Nonetheless, the figures raked in by "10 Endrathukulla" on the opening day is highly appreciable as it was a working day. While Vikram's movie has raked in Rs 6.5 crore from India on the opening day, "Puli" has earned Rs 15.5 crore on the release day in India.
"10 Endrathukulla" had a good pre-talk and the response for the advance booking has been good, which has helped the movie put a good total at the collection centres on the first day. As Vikram is returning after the success of his hit film "I", people had pinned high hopes on the flick and this ensured that the movie has a good turnout on the opening day.
As per trade tracker Sreedhar Pillai, this is Vikram's second best opening after "I". He tweeted," #10Endrathukkula takes a grand opening - 6.5 Cr gross on day 1 across India. Strong nearly Rs 5Cr from TN. #Vikram's best ever after #I." The Shankar directorial had minted close to Rs 7.4 crore (gross Rs 9.6 crore) on the opening day.
"10 Endrathukulla" stars Vikram and Samantha in the lead roles. The road movie is written and directed by Vijay Milton.
Meanwhile, "10 Endrathukulla" has opened to mixed reviews from the audience and critics. The movie is expected to perform well in the next few days due to Dasara holiday weekend.
