A bus accident near Gangath village in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district claimed the life of one female school student and injured 41 others on Monday.
The private bus was carrying 42 passengers, including 25-30 children, from Indora to Jassur when it met with an accident in Pandori around 11 a.m., Nurpur Police Station Head Constable Ravinder Singh told International Business Times, India Edition.
Pandori is located near the Himachal Pradesh border and is around 20 kms from Pathankot.
Singh added that preliminary inquiry into the accident suggested that the bus met with an accident due to some technical fault but this can only be confirmed once a proper "mechanical inspection" of the vehicle is carried out.
Some of the injured were rushed to a local hospital in Gangath while some were admitted to the Nurpur Civil Hospital, Singh further added.
A case has been registered under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304 (a) (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.
