A head constable of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was killed following a landslide around Vaishno Devi Bhawan in Jammu and Kashmir.
Many people are feared to be trapped in the premises after a boulder hit gate number three of the complex. A rescue team has started its search operations in the area, the Financial Express reported.
This is not the first time a landslide has struck the holy shrine. Earlier in August, at least three pilgrims were killed and nine were left injured in a similar landslide when pilgrims were on their way to the Mata Vaishnodevi shrine, which is located in the state's Raesi district.
The landslide occurred on the Banganga-Arkhkuwari road at around midnight on Aug. 6, when rubble fell on a shelter killing the pilgrims.
"Three pilgrims including a 5-year-old died on the spot and another person was brought dead at hospital," Ajeet Sahu, the CEO of Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Shrine Board, had confirmed then.
