Ram Charan's "Yevadu" has taken a fantastic opening at the Andhra Pradesh box office.
"Yevadu", which released on 12 January, received positive feedback from critics as well as the audience. The film took a grand opening on the first day of its release, with most shows filled with packed houses.
Though "Yevadu" is termed as a typical revenge drama, the twists and the commercial elements in the film seem to have attracted the audience.
The Ram Charan starrer, which released in 720 screens in Andhra Pradesh, has reportedly earned ₹8.65 crore (share) on the first day at the AP box office. It is the biggest opener for Ram Charan. To look at the territory-wise collections of the film, click here.
"Yevadu" has taken the fourth spot in the list of films with the highest day 1 openings (AP share). Pawan Kalyan's "Attarintiki Daredi (₹10.75 crore), and Jr. NTR's "Baadshah" (₹9.25 crore) and "Ramayya Vastavayya" (₹8.7 crore) are the three films ahead of "Yevadu."
The action-packed entertainer has surpassed Mahesh Babu's "1 Nenokkadine" first day collections. "1 Nenokkadine", which opened to negative reviews, had raked in ₹8.40 crore share in AP. This is considered below par as the Mahesh Babu starrer had a solo big release in around 1,000 screens on 10 January. The psychological thriller was expected to surpass "Attarintiki Daredi" collections (₹10.75 crore) but it did not come even close to the ₹10 crore mark.
The business of "1 Nenokkadine" has been dropping for the last two days not only due to poor feedback but also due to the release of "Yevadu." Meanwhile, the Ram Charan starrer has been receiving tremendous response at the box office, though the film has released after multiple delays in the last five months.
"Yevadu" has opened well on the second day (13 January) as well, with morning shows reporting housefuls in big centres. The film is expected to have a strong second day in Andhra Pradesh.
As the Sankranti holidays have begun "Yevadu" is expected to post a good total at the end of its first week and is likely to be a big commercial hit in Ram Charan's career.
The film, directed by Vamshi Paidipally, has Ram Charan, Shruti Haasan and Amy Jackson in pivotal roles. Other cast members include Allu Arjun, Kajal Aggarwal (both cameo), Sai Kumar, Rahul Dev, Brahmanandam and Jayasudha.
