Ayan Mukherji's second directorial project, "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" continues to rake in moolah in India despite the release of new films. The romantic film has emerged as Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone's biggest hit ever.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film, which is going strong in its second week, is unstoppable at the box office.
"Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" on its second Monday collected ₹5.5 crore, taking the overall domestic total to ₹142.1 crore.
With ₹142 crore in its pocket, the film has surpassed the lifetime collection record of Salman Khan starrer "Dabangg". The action drama "Dabangg" was released in 2010 and had raked in ₹138.88 crore in India during its four weeks box office run.
Apart from "Dabangg", the film has also beaten the lifetime collection records of "Rowdy Rathore", "Jab Tak Hai Jaan", "Ready" and "Agneepath".
"Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" is now set to beat "Bodyguard" which collected ₹148.86 crore at the domestic BO.
The romantic film also starring Aditya Roy Kapoor and Kalki Kochelin in the important roles, is expected to cross the ₹150 crore mark in India within two weeks.
At worldwide box office, the film is inching towards the 200 crore mark. The flick filled with romance and comedy has minted ₹185.14 crore worldwide in just 11 days (Overseas ₹43.04 crore + Domestic ₹142.1 crore).
The flick requires only about ₹15 crore to surpass the coveted ₹200 crore club, and considering its current collections pace, the film might achieve that target within the second week.
The film produced by Karan Johar, also features Kunal Roy Kapur, Evelyn Sharma, Dolly Ahluwalia, Farooq Sheikh and Tanvi Azmi in supporting roles.
