Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" minted ₹64 crore in the overseas market, bagging the title of 'All Time Blockbuster'.
Rounding off the total overseas collection, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#YJHD Overseas business is set to finish at $ 10.5 million [Rs 64 cr]. ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER."
The romantic flick, directed by Ayan Mukherji, was declared a blockbuster after it made to the elite ₹100 crore club within a short period. The film did exceptionally well at the domestic box office and turned out to be biggest hit of the year.
At the end of fifth week, "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" had collected approximately ₹188.57 crore at the domestic box office. However, the film failed to reach the ₹200 crore mark set by "3 Idiots" and "Ek Tha Tiger".
Meanwhile, reports state that Ranbir and Deepika will soon be seen together in filmmaker Imtiaz Ali's next venture. "The success of YJHD proves beyond all doubts that the audiences are in love with this onscreen pair. Ranbir was on-board for almost a year. Though Imtiaz and Ranbir had discussed various options for the lead actress, they were still debating on who was the best choice. It was during the shooting of YJHD, that Ranbir suggested Deepika's name. Imtiaz, who worked with her before in Love Aaj Kal, was open to the idea. Then came the blockbuster - YJHD - which turned out to be the clinching factor," an insider said.
Ranbir and Deepika also won the Star Plus audience jodi of the year award for "Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani" at the 14th International Indian Film Academy awards event held in Macau. After accepting the award Deepika said, "I miss Ranbir today. Thank you so much, Ayan, for making me look so wonderful in the film. I miss you and I love you."
