Action comedy flick, "Yamla Pagla Deewana 2" starring Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby Deol opened to a great response in north India, but dull at other circuits.
As per early estimates, Sangeeth Sivan's directorial film earned approximately ₹7 crore in its opening day.
Deols's stronghold in north Indian circuits, especially Punjab, helped the film witness a good start but it failed to draw in crowds at other places.
The film faced a tough competition from last Friday's release, "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" at major circuits in India. The first Day collection of "YPD2" and second Friday collection of Ranbir Kapoor starrer "YJHD" are almost in the same range.
The film, which shot mostly in UK, opened to a poor response at international market too.
"UK: #YPD2 Fri £ 22,697 [₹ 20.15 lacs], AUSTRALIA: Thu A$ 2,937, Fri A$ 20,049. Total: A$ 22,986 [₹ 12.45 lacs] and NEW ZEALAND: #YPD2 Thu NZ$ 5,264, Fri NZ$ 14,474. Total: NZ$ 19,738 [₹ 8.88 lacs]," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The film, which is a sequel to 2011 hit film, "Yamla Pagla Deewana", had received negative reviews from critics upon its release.
The Deol production features Neha Sharma of "Kyaa Super Kool Hai Hum" fame and Australian model-turned-actress Kristina Akheeva, who is making her Bollywood debut through the film. It also features Annu Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Johnny Lever and Sucheta Khanna in important roles.
