Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby Deol starrer "Yamla Pagla Deewana 2" witnessed average collection at the domestic Box Office in the first weekend.
A sequel to the 2011 hit film of the same title, "Yamla Pagla Deewana 2" collected around ₹22.25-₹22.50 crore in the opening week from 1,800 screens across the country.
"#YPD2 collected ₹22.25 cr to 22.50 cr nett in its opening weekend. Fri 7.50 cr, Sat 6.50 cr, Sun 8.25 cr to 8.50 cr," trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.
He added that "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" had affected the business of Deol's film. The Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer collected ₹28.75 crore in the second weekend, tahing the total earnings to more than ₹126 in just 10 days.
Directed by Sangeeth Sivan, "Yamla Pagla Deewana 2" hit the screens on 7 June. Unlike its prequel, the movie failed to impress the critics and recieved negative reviews.
The movie, which collected approximately ₹7 crore on its opening day, received poor response in overseas markets as well. "Yamla Pagla Deewana 2" could rake in only ₹1.39 crore in the opening week at the overseas circuits.
"Yamla Pagla Deewana 2" has earned ₹61.27 lakh from UK, ₹27.73 lakh from Australia, ₹17.85 lakh from New Zealand, and ₹32.41 lakh from US and Cannada, according to Taran Adarsh.
Apart from the Deol trio, the movie also features actors like Neha Sharma, Australian model-turned-actress Kristina Akheeva, Annu Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Johnny Lever and Sucheta Khanna in important roles.
