"Udhayam NH4" is a bilingual (Tamil and Telugu) romantic thriller movie in which major portions are shot on the National Highway 4 that connects the main cities of Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, and Chennai. It is a debut venture of Manimaran, an associate of national award-winning director Vetrimaaran.
The movie's story is about Prabhu (Siddharth) and his friends who kidnap Rithika (newcomer Ashrita Shetty), daughter of a powerful politician. When the father finds out that his daughter had willingly gone with Prabhu, he sends encounter specialist Manoj Menon (Kay Kay Menon) to find her before midnight, as she would turn 18 the next day and could choose her partner. Thus, begins the cat and mouse chase.
The National Highway 4 has played a significant part in the journey of the lovers. "Udhayam NH4", which was released on 19 April, has been appreciated for its neatly-written screenplay and dialogues. The lead stars' performances have also received accolades from all quarters.
With the movie performing well at theatres, it has been a double delight for actor Siddharth whose Hindi release "Chashme Baddoor" is still doing well at the box office , despite IPL T20 cricket matches taking a large viewership. "Chashme Baddoor" marked the debut of popular southern star Taapsee.
