"The Voice" season 5 has entered the heartbreaking phase with two of the five semi-finalists to be sent home on Tuesday. And there is no Twitter save this time.
The elimination round of 'The Voice' season 5 will be telecast live on NBC at 9 p.m. EST (7.30 am IST, Wednesday).
The top five contestants - Will Champlin, Tessanne Chin, James Wolpert, Jacquie Lee and Cole Vosbury - performed one song each before coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, CeeLo Green and Christina Aguilera on Monday, trying to woo America's vote.
Going by their performances, Tessanne was the only contestant who stood out in Monday's live show, which means the four remaining finalists may fight for the top three spot.
James Wolpert of Team Adam sang "With or Without You" by U2 in the semi-finals, earning the praises of his coach and Blake. Then Will Champlin sang the song, "Carry On" by Fun. The choice of song was not perfect, and he received more accolades from coaches for his smile than his performance.
Jacquie Lee of Team Christina sang the song "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan. She hit the notes perfectly and received praises from the coaches but she was weak in expressing her emotion. Then it was the turn of Team Blake's Cole Vosbury to hit the stage. He sang the song, "Shameless" by Garth Brooks (written by Billy Joel), earning the praises of his coach Blake and former coach CeeLo.
However, it was the last performer of the night, Team Adam's Tessanne Chin, who nailed it with the rendition of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon and Garfunkel. Her performance was filled with both power and emotion.
At the end of the day, it's the Americans who will choose three contestants for next week's grand finale.
