Milan Luthria's "The Dirty Picture" had a thunderous opening Friday. Breaking the stereotype that heroine-oriented films don't fetch at the box office, it netted Rs 9-10 crore in India.
According to a report by trade expert Komal Nahta, the female-oriented biopic film fetched Rs 90 lakh in Gujarat, Rs 20 lakh in Saurashtra, Rs 1.75 crore in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and over Rs 1.3 core in Punjab on the opening day.
While, trade experts estimated that "The Dirty Picture" collected around Rs 1.5 crore from other parts of India.
According to reports, "The Dirty Picture" did excellent in single screen than multiplexes on the opening day.
Considering the number of screen count (1600 in India) and the positive audience feedback, trade experts are hoping that the medium budget film (Rs. 30 crore) may turn out to be champion in the box office.
