Hollywood flick "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" which opened to a positive start on 1 May has weakened on its second day figures.
The Marvel film's tale of the web slinger Peter Parker earned a good ₹7.50 crore on Thursday, reported Box Office India. The first day collection of the film managed to surpass its prequel "The Amazing Spider-Man"s opening day collections of ₹6.25 crore, when it released in India two years ago.
Even though the sequel had a wider release this time in India as compared to the previous film, it earned only 10 percent more than the previous film on the opening day. Apart from the increased number of screens, releasing on a holiday didn't help the film much. However, "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" saw a definite fall on the second day as it slipped to around ₹6-6.50 crore on Friday, 2 May.
Hence, the two-day collections of the film would stand around ₹14 crore and if the figures stay close in the following two days too, the film is expected to have a decent weekend. But undoubtedly, the super hero flick has a definite edge over the Hindi films released this week, "Purani Jeans", "Kya Dilli Kya Lahore" and "Kahin Yeh Mera Pyar."
As per Box Office India, the above Hindi films have opened to poor response and have only been limited to city audiences, thus affecting its collections. Moreover, "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" being a strong contender with the Hollywood tag has hit hard on the Bollywood productions.
Only "2 States" has managed to hold to its spot as it earned a fair ₹1.67 crore despite being the film's third Friday, according to Taran Adarsh's figures.
Also, "The Amazing Spider-Man 2"s dubbed version in Hindi, which has been voiced by Vivek Oberoi hasn't find many takers and is not faring well as compared to the English print.
