Bollywood has always welcomed several south film actresses to be part of interesting projects.
After Ileana D'cruz ("Barfi"), Kajal Aggarwal ("Singham") and Tamannah ("Himmatwala"), pretty actress Amala Paul might be the next one to join the list.
Latest buzz is that Amala has been approached to be part of the Bollywood remake of 2002 blockbuster Tamil flick "Ramana".
The Hindi version, reportedly titled "Gabbar", will have Akshay reprising the role of Tamil actor Vijayakanth in the original.
Earlier, reports had emerged that Shruti Haasan will be the leading lady in "Gabbar". Later, it was said that Tamannah has bagged the role. Now, Amala Paul's name is doing the rounds.
"The original had two leading ladies, Simran and Ashima. But, the makers of the Hindi version have tweaked the script, and now, the film will feature only one actress in a prominent role. Amala Paul was given a narration recently, and she will, in all likelihood, sign on the dotted line soon," a source was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
If the reports are true, then the Akshay-starrer would mark Amala's debut in Bollywood. The bubbly actress has earned a name for herself in the southern film industry with the critically-acclaimed film "Mynaa". After the success of "Mynaa", the southern beauty has been slowly climbing the success ladder, bagging big budget films with A-list stars including Vijay ("Thalaivaa"), Arya ("Vettai") and Allu Arjun (Telugu film "Iddarammayilatho").
Amala will next be seen in a few other projects including Dhanush's "Velai Illa Pattathari", Jayam Ravi's "Nimirndhu Nil" and its Telugu version starring Nani.
