The shoot of Ajith-Gautham Menon's "Thala 55" (tentative title) commenced on 11 April. The shooting reportedly took place near VGP Golden Beach in ECR, Chennai. [Read: Ajith's "Amarkalam" Release, "Thala 55"  Title Announcement on 1 May?]

Director Gautham and the film's cinematographer Dan Macarthur have given some updates on their Twitter handle.

Sharing his experience of working with "Thala" in the first two days, Gautham tweeted: "Enlightening 2 days of shoot. Feel totally at home. Working with a superstar who treats each & every unit member like family. Feels good."

The director has also shared a picture of himself with Ajith.

Macarthur has revealed that "Thala 55" team will shoot some action scenes on Monday (14 April).

The Ajith starrer is deemed an action-packed entertainer. Apparently, the actor is appearing in the role of a cop. Anushka Shetty is confirmed to play the female lead opposite him. Arun Vijay and Aadhi of "Eeram" are also said to be part of the project. Music composer Harris Jayaraj will reportedly reunite with Gautam for "Thala 55." However, an official confirmation on the cast and crew members is still awaited.

Meanwhile, there has been reports doing the rounds on the film's title. It is being speculated that the Ajith starrer will be titled "Aayiram Thottaakal" ("1000 Bullets"). But there is no official word in this regard as well. The film's title is expected to be revealed on 1 May, which happens to be Ajith's birthday.

This is the first time that Ajith is teaming up with Gautham. This has generated a lot of expectations among fans of the actor-director duo. The film's shoot will reportedly be completed in one stretch and it is likely to release this year.
