Reema Kagti's second directorial venture "Talaash: The Answer Lies Within" has remained the first choice of moviegoers, especially in the overseas market.
The suspense thriller, which stars Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee, is a hit movie at overseas box offices, despite new release "Khiladi 786".
The second week collections of "Talaash" was much better than the opening weekend of Akshay Kumar's latest film "Khiladi 786", according to trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh.
After its second weekend, "Talaash" collected approximately ₹6.22 crore (£ 713,552) at the UK box office, ₹13.05 crore ($ 2,397,909) at the US box office, ₹3.21 crore (A$ 564,459) at the Australian box office and ₹85.16 lacs in New Zealand and Fiji.
Earlier, Adarsh said that the movie collected ₹36.75 cr ($ 6.75 million) in its first week at overseas box offices. Taking note of the collection figures, the movie appears to be giving tough competiton to Akshay Kumar's masala comedy film.
The movie, which was released on Friday, opened with a fantastic collection at domestic box offices across the country.
"Khiladi 786" was expected to pull down the business of "Talaash" but failed to do so. The business of Kagti's movie dipped a bit at the start of the second week, but drew audiences during weekend shows.
It raked in approximately ₹11.20 crore in its second weekend, taking the overall domestic total to ₹79.10 crore.
"The business at urban centres was excellent, but was below the mark at mass-dominated circuits/single screens. However, the overall total is impressive thanks to the contribution from multiplexes," Adarsh said.
