Bollywood's newest release "Talaash" is still going strong at the box office after a good opening last week. However, it has failed to beat Shah Rukh Khan starrer "Jab Tak Hai Jaan".
The worldwide collection of "Jab Tak Hai Jaan", which stars Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, crossed ₹100 crore mark in just five days. The film earned ₹70.76 crore from domestic box office and ₹35.20 crore from overseas, taking the total to ₹105.96 crore.
"Talaash" earned ₹59.6 crore at the domestic box office from five days of screening but it is over ₹10 crore less than that of "Jab Tak Hai Jaan". "#Talaash Tue 5.72 cr. Total: Rs 59.6 cr nett," tweeted trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh.
The worldwide collection of "Talaash" in four days crossed ₹80 crore. Given that the domestic box office collection on Tuesday witnessed a sharp decline, the film is very unlikely to cross the ₹100 mark in spite of adding the fifth day overseas collection.
It may be recalled that "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" was released across 2,500 screens worldwide on the occasion of Diwali, collecting ₹15.23 crore on the opening day. It was produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner and Yash Chopra, who passed away in October, was the director.
"Talaash" earned ₹13.5 on its opening day. It is a murder mystery directed by Reema Kagti, whose first directorial venture was "Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd". The movie is jointly produced by Excel Entertainment and Aamir Khan Productions.
