Bollywood's latest suspense thriller "Table No. 21", featuring Rajeev Khandelwal, Tena Desae, and Paresh Rawal in lead roles, is going steady at the domestic box office.
The movie is giving tough competition to four other films - "Dehraadun Diary", "Dekha Jo Pehli Baar", "Meri Shadi Karao" and "Rajdhani Express" - that were released on the same day.
Directed by Aditya Datt, the suspense thriller is the first movie of 2013 that is earning fair collections at the box office.
The film within the five days of its release raked in ₹7.86 crore in India. In spite of weekday shows and its small budget, the movie is performing well in India.
The five-day breakup of the film is: Friday ₹1.55 crore, Saturday ₹2.04 crore, Sunday ₹2.25 crore, Monday ₹1.02 crore and Tuesday ₹1.00 crore.
The business of the film was largely affected due to the cold wave in several parts of the country, cricket matches and anti-rape protests. The end of the holiday period or New Year also kept moviegoers away from cineplexes, according to Taran Adarsh.
Also, previous big budget release "Dabanng 2", starring Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha, is affecting its business.
On a positive note, the film received positive to mixed response from critics. Positive word of mouth from critics and audiences has also helped the business of the film.
