Bollywood film "Shuddh Desi Romance" is performing well at the Indian box office. The romantic comedy has raked in more than the production cost, even before completing it first week of theatrical run.
The film starring Parineeti Chopra, Sushant Singh Rajput and Vaani Kapoor has earned ₹31.27 crore in five days.
"#ShuddhDesiRomance Fri 6.45 Cr, Sat 7.90 Cr, Sun 8.92 Cr, Mon 4.79 Cr, Tue 3.21 Cr. Total ₹31.27 Cr. Super," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The film did well on Monday, due to Ganesh Chaurthi holiday in some parts of circuits, but on Tuesday the collections dropped by 15-20 percent.
On Monday, the film earned ₹4.79 crore, while on Tuesday it raked in ₹3.21 crore.
Directed by Maneesh Sharma, "Shuddh Desi Romance" is mainly targeted at the youth audience. The film, made on a budget of around ₹25 crore - ₹30 crore, has already earned the production cost from the domestic run.
The film is also doing fantastic business on On the overseas front. It fetched ₹7.5 crore till its first Monday from international markets.
"#ShuddhDesiRomance Overseas total till Monday - $ 1.15 million [₹7.5 cr]," Adarsh tweeted.
The worldwide total collections of the film now stand at ₹38.77 crore.
Meanwhile, Parineeti is riding high on success with her latest release.
"When I read the script I was sure that this is going to be a very entertaining film. I was happy that Maneesh and Adi (Aditya Chopra from YRF) offered me this film because after, Ishaqzaade, I wanted to do something different and Shuddh Desi Romance clicked," the actress said at a Nivea event, according to IANS.
"It has released and people are liking it, the reviews are good and all the performances and Jaideep (Sahni, scriptwriter) and Maneesh's work is being appreciated. When there are a lot of messages and missed calls on your phone, you like it. So, I am very happy," added the 24-year-old starlet.
