Bollywood film "Shuddh Desi Romance" (SDR) has witnessed a slump in its collections at the Indian box office, following the release of "Grand Masti".
The romantic film, starring Parineeti Chopra, Sushant Singh Rajput and newcomer Vaani Kapoor, was badly affected in its second week due to the release of adult comedy "Grand Masti".
Maneesh Sharma's directorial has taken its overall domestic total to ₹44 crore.
"#ShuddhDesiRomance [Week 2] Fri 1.23 cr, Sat 2.01 cr, Sun 2.31 cr, Mon 77 lacs, Tue 85 lacs, Wed 78 lacs. Total: ₹44.53 crore," trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.
In the first week of its release, the film outperformed Priyanka Chopra starrer "Zanjeer". But in the second week, "Grand Masti" overshadowed "SDR".
Meanwhile, newbie Vaani Kapoor who made her Bollywood debut with "SDR" has shared her experience about the film and working with her co-stars, Parineeti and Sushant. She also talked about how the success of her first film has opened doors in Bollywood.
"Parineeti is a very confident person. Both Sushant and Parineeti are very good actors. We all were from the same age group so we could connect well together. They did not have any air about themselves or any baggage so it was fun," Vaani told PTI.
"I want to work in all sorts of movies, I am very greedy. I hope I get to stay here because I really like acting. It has given me some hope in life. I am a bad planner, I cannot really plan my future so I am keeping my expectations very grounded. But I hope I get to stick around here," she added.
