Bollywood crime thriller, "Shootout At Wadala" starring John Abraham, Kangna Ranaut, Anil Kapoor and Tusshar Kapoor has collected ₹53.94 crore at the domestic box office since its release two weeks ago.
"Shootout At Wadala" directed by Sanjay Gupta was released in 1,700 screens across the country on 3 May. It collected ₹10.1 crore at the box office on the opening day, becoming one of the biggest openers this year.
"#ShootoutAtWadala [2nd Week] Fri 2.02 cr, Sat 2.33 cr, Sun 2.57 cr, Mon 1.20 cr. Grand total: 53.94 cr," tweeted trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh.
The film collected ₹45.82 crore in the first week and then ₹6.92 crore in the second weekend, taking the total to ₹52.74 crore, according to Adarsh.
"Shootout At Wadala" also earned big at the overseas box office, collecting ₹4.88 crore in the first weekend.
"#ShootoutAtWadala *opng wknd* Australia A$ 67,772 [Rs 37.61 lacs]... New Zealand NZ$ 14,858 [Rs 6.86 lacs]... The cost of production of the film is said to be approximately ₹47 crore - ₹32 crore on print and ₹15 crore on advertising. Having recovered the cost in the second week itself, the makers of the film will make a reasonable profit if it continues to draw in the crowd to the theatres for a few more weeks.
"Shootout At Wadala" is a sequel to the 2007 film, "Shootout at Lokhandwala", which is based on the book 'Dongri to Dubai' written by S Hussain Zaidi.
Produced by Sanjay Gupta, Anuradha Gupta, Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, the film also features Manoj Bajpai and Sonu Sood in important roles.
